The Robert Wood Foundation has been monumental in changing the lives of so many children. The families and children who receive funding for their Walk Aide device from The Robert Wood Foundation benefit from this gift thought their life. This is not a temporary improvement; it strengthens the muscles and nerves effected from injury and will effectively help these children meet their rehabilitation goals now and forever. The Walk Aide device replaces a traditionally worn AFO brace that does not have the same life changing benefits. The Walk Aide is a functional electrical stimulator; it uses an inclinometer to read angles in space, it turns on and off as programed. This device strengthens the damaged pathways and allows for normal movement without restrictions. The Walk Aide is not covered by insurance and is difficult for so many families to purchase. Without the donations and provided funding from the Robert Wood Foundation this incredible opportunity to improve would not be possible. We at Hanger Clinic, and all the families who receive this tremendous gift to last a lifetime want to thank the board and all the donors for making all of this possible.
